"These albums are done to pay homage to great soundtracks while doing very little arrangement of the original material; one instrument is recorded for each of the channels of the original NES soundtrack--a note-for-note performance of the original composition (with the drums embellished a bit). Each track was recorded at the exact same tempo as its original counterpart so that it will perfectly lay on top of the game.

Tanaka's original soundtrack was composed so that it contained sparse melodies, strayed from "hummable" pop tunes and made no distinction between music and sound effects. The intention behind this cover album was to recreate the sound effects with instruments without upsetting the blend between them and the music. Metroid possessed one of the most innovative soundtracks for its time and I hope you enjoy my homage to it."
