"These albums are done to pay homage to great soundtracks while doing very little arrangement of the original material; one instrument is recorded for each of the channels of the original NES soundtrack--a note-for-note performance of the original composition (with the drums embellished a bit). Each track was recorded at the exact same tempo as its original counterpart so that it will perfectly lay on top of the game.

There's hardly anything that can be said about Contra (or its soundtrack) that hasn't already been said. It's an integral part of almost every video game enthusiast's life and its soundtrack is among the most energetic and memorable of the entire NES library. This is one of the most enjoyable soundtracks that I've covered so far."
