To grab iTunes album art directly from the web site.

1. Go to the album page on itunes.apple.com.
2. Right click open image in new tab
or
2. Right click on the album art and copy image url.
3. Paste url in browser address bar.
4. Edit end portion of address to change from ###x### (normally 100, 150 or 175) to 600x600, if 600x600 is not available try 700x700 then press enter.

Addendum:
1200x1200 works for most albums.
Edit: It should be noted that sometimes the 1200x1200 version is simply upscaled.

If done correctly the page will load with a 600x600 image of the album art.
Save the art, and attach to your files or upload here.

You can also use archive.org to find old pages of removed music to grab the art from iTunes.

Album Art Downloader XUI
http://album-art.sourceforge.net/
Has a script for iTunes art.

Thanks, this is a very useful trick. It looks like it works on Japanese iTunes albums too.

You can also export it from the purchased audio files through softwares like MP3Tag, they usually come with embedded art.

Updated the first post a bit.

If the audio is old or you don't want to purchase through iTunes, or have it add art as a link in its database, this is helpful.

It was recently brought to my attention that 1200x1200 works for most albums.

Edit: However, it should be noted that sometimes the 1200x1200 version is simply upscaled.

I've tried this before only to get the white page with one-line permission error, but now that it works, it's amazing! (Got a bunch of Starchild and Pony Canyon, will keep going at it)

Observations:
King Records artwork seem to store the catno in the filename, unlike others which appear to be a hash or just "Cover". This even applies to Digital-exclusive releases (NOPA-xxxx)

I've tried a bunch of Lantis albums/singles and all the 1200x1200 are just terrible upscales. (Then again I'm not surprised, because a lot of the 600x600 Lantis artwork from before their entry to iTunes is just nearest-neighbor-JAGGIES upscales) Am I just wasting my time trying to snag HD Lantis artwork from iTunes?

Additional:
(the below applies less-so to VGM, and more-so to Japanese music)
While we're on the topic of high-res artwork, I've had some great luck with Google Images' "all sizes" feature (from when you upload a low-res album cover). Found many hit-and-miss sources in this way for 600+ pixel artwork:
kuroki-syoten.co.jp
music-lounge.jp
karuwazaonline.jp
lisani.jp
barks.jp

http://sp-m.mu-mo.net (Avex. Some other labels are present, but are upscales)
toranoana.jp (only had luck with Warner Home Video cds)
http://recochoku.jp/search_smph/ (Sony Japan. Doesn't seem to provide 600x600 after Summer 2012, new covers seem to be 400x400)

Anime:
repotama.com
moca-news.net
koepota.jp (less music, more voice actresses)
