Let's talk about the release date.
This physical album was sent to people who gave $30 or more to the project (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/waxpancake/kind-of-bloop-an-8-bit-tribute-to-miles-davis) by August 1.
The album was "officially released" (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/waxpancake/kind-of-bloop-an-8-bit-tribute-to-miles-davis/posts) on August 17. This means that, for anyone who gave $5 or more, a digital copy of the album was put on the website for them to download. Note that the lower money total means that this was available for people besides those who received the physical album.
The physical albums were shipped (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/waxpancake/kind-of-bloop-an-8-bit-tribute-to-miles-davis/posts/1261) on September 8.
Which of these should we use?
(I have no idea at all where the August 7 date comes from.)
