Was it music you heard while playing a game, an actual soundtrack, a remix of game music or even something else entirely?
Oh, and, hello everyone!

The nostalgia I felt when I randomly came across FFVII OST someday, when I was about 14. It sort of led me to seek out and listen to other soundtracks to games I played as a kid. Which led me to more and more consistently amazing music from other games.

What spurred me to actually start buying game music CDs was finding out Falcom was releasing The Very Best of Ys (http://vgmdb.net/album/1727) back in 1998. I was a huge fan of Ys music from my TurboGrafx days, but at the time, all the music had been long out of print. I couldn't pass up the chance, so I ordered it from GMO. It remains one of the best purchases I've ever made.

I really loved the Tekken 3 soundtrack and the Final Fantasy VII one, both for PSX. And today, I'm a happy owner of both the soundtracks ^^. Actually just recently bought the Tekken 3 soundtrack.
But I also enjoyed the Sega Genesis soundtracks A LOT. I thought the soundtracks for the Sonic the Hedgehog series and The Terminator game were so cool when I was younger. And since I got PSX after the Genesis I guess it was the Genesis that made me like (and then later, buy) soundtracks. And of course, I'd also like to support the composers!

Dark World from LoZ: ALttP, when I first played at three years of age.
It just drew me in and never let me go.

I just like to buy good music. And since there're lots of games which happen to have good music...yeah.

Hi there! First time poster here!
I started collecting in 1990, a friend of a friend worked for Scitron in Japan. My friend was sent all sorts of cool arcade stuff, including soundtracks. He lost interest (and also contact with Takeshi from Scitron) and sold most of his stuff to me! I was amazed that you could get the music from Strider (for example). I've hunted OSTs on and off since then. Unfortunately in the early 2000's I fell foul of the cheap bootlegs on ebay but have learnt my lesson since. Anyway here's my collection :

Final Fantasy and things - FF8 is a bootleg that was sold as an original Grrr.

Resident Evil and Metal Gear + others. RES1, MGS1 and Silent Hill are the European releases.

My classics - Strider was my first one. It (like a few of them) has "sample" marked round the spindle)

More classics, apart from Ajax which is the recent re-issue (part of the Tetra box)

Old-school! Cassettes! I'm afraid to play them.

Impressive.
Say, we don't have a picture of the SNK sound power vinyl in our VGMdb entry. Would you be able to take a pic of the front of that album?
Also, what was the Tetrabiblos Box? I'm not familiar with that one.

No, but alot of the early ones I got, didn't have spinecards. I often put them behind the cd tray

Yes, when Scitron made the Legend Series reprints, they came with bonus boxes to hold the sets.
("Tetra" being to hold the Konami Game Music Vols. 1~4 albums).
Another example is that the Namco themed ones came with this bonus brown box "Namco Trilogy Box"

The Capcom ones got one also, except colored rather than plain brown "Capcom Trilogy Box"

VGMusic - back in 2001 (I think that was the year) I'd download MIDIs because downloading MP3s back then sucked.
Then I started replacing them with album music (when I found out they were actually released on CDs).
