Default Episode #011: Vinyl Extravaganza 1

Vinyl records are back in favor and "retro cool" again, so I'm sharing some of my own VGM vinyls on this month's podcast. Some are exclusive to the turntable format and didn't get CD or cassette releases, while albums from the G.M.O. label got the full treatment on all 3 formats.

This is part 1 of a 3 episode series, showcasing the very earliest game sound appearances up until 1986, when game music as a genre started to really take off, with new vinyls appearing every month (and sometimes just days apart!)

I picked some of these up from Yahoo Japan Auctions a few years ago, and as with any collecting hobby, there's always a few more early & obscure ones floating around that have yet to be captured.

Full track listing is in the comments section below.

Can't wait for the upcoming parts if they're as good history class lessons as this was.

This was really fun to listen to. There were a few tracks I'd like to revisit. Not like I can buy the albums though...

My apologies for the incomplete commentary, as the intro information about the albums is only present for the first half. Other activities and time caught up, oh well.

By the way, here's the Yahoo Japan Auctions link for their Game Vinyl category, so that's a starting point if you want to purchase some of these.

That was a really cool podcast- I kind of like how the commentary trailed off and it was nonstop old-skool VGM goodness! I love the Namco Hit Game Scramble track- especially the end (Skykid?)--That one knocks my socks off!

I know this was posted a long time ago, but is the podcast still available? I'd really like to listen to this (and parts 2 and 3 if available?).

edit: Apologies, I am new to this web site and I couldn't find the podcast listed but have found it now. A very enjoyable podcast, please keep these coming!
