Just seeing this listing gave me a happy-vibe deep in the core of my being.

Have you listened to some of the samples, on the official website for example? They all sound excellent. It's as if the Piano & Strings and Super Arrange Version albums were used to make the actual soundtrack!

yeah, I try to visit frequently to hear the new samples as they go up. And if I miss them, the lovely Don Kotowski makes sure I hear them.
I'll miss the old-school synth (8-bit, FM, etc) original compositions. But to your point, with the OST sounding so awesome up-front, maybe the arranged album they'll do will be an 8-bit demix?! |

CDJapan has Norihiko Hibino already credited for production. Guess that's a no-brainer seeing as he's been involved with Koshiro since the beginning. On that BGM3 compilation, you can hear his trademark, relaxing soprano sax playing.

Amazon confirms Hibino is involved. He's arranging live music. But as you said, it was quite obvious from the samples

According to Koshiro, he arranged all the music. Hibino is just conducting the live sessions. If there is any actual arrangement involvement, I'm sure the credits will say it when the soundtrack is released.
-- Hi Don, Thanks! No,I arranged those tracks. (That was in regards to BGM1, 2, and 3 at the time) But Hibino-san conducts the bands and some of the players were the same with the SQ arranged album. Yuzo 2012年3月7日 |

This is weird, because Amazon definitely says Hibino took part in the arrangement.
But I guess Koshiro himself is a much more reliable source! Anyway, it sounds very, very promising. |

Yes, I agree. It does sound promising. I had thought Hibino was involved in arranging as well, which is why I asked.

Oh please, let it be Teisena!

They'll likely both have arranger credits. Koshiro did the initial arrangements, and while recording, Hibino had to do additional arrangement and modifications.

Preview track #5 is up on the official site. From the new gameplay trailer I've seen I believe it's the town theme.

Yes, BGM 5 on the website is one of the town themes.

Added the tracklist based on the CDJapan listing. Looks like the BGM1 (airship theme) is only 1 of the airship themes if Google Translate's horrible translation of the tracklist is any indication. A proper translation would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I'm fairly certain that track 14 on disc 2 is The End of the Raging Waves from Etrian Odyssey 3 (although renamed for this game, given the lack of ocean setting) since I've heard it in some gameplay videos. Last edited by Don; Jul 19, 2012 at 12:55 PM. |

Quick (preliminar) translation:
v1:
v2:
v3:
I didn't add it because I'm kind of unhappy with the current MeiQ series tracklists. I'd like to revise the various mistranslations and misleading terms for unity (ex. "conflict" would make much more sense than "disturbances" IMO), or throw in some official translations, but on the other hand I guess people would prefer the older, familiar translations. EDIT: fixed some more; forgot the series loves their good ol' 古語 (ex. 1.06). (yay lolmp3s trans-mutation again, last time I swear) Last edited by Dag; Jul 29, 2012 at 02:54 AM. |

Thanks Dag! I think the sound test (I presume that's what you mean by official) tracklist might be good to add for the first three games.
Also, for the first Labyrinth theme, I've also seen it as "Midori Shrine Forest." What you wrote makes more sense, as it fits more with the normal naming conventions of the first labyrinth themes. Any idea how this may have come about? |

I don't think there are sound tests in the games, I meant official terms for labyrinth and character names and so on.
Like "Ever-Scarlet Forest" goes by "Auburn Thicket" in EO2 which is way better I think. The series' labyrinth names may use certain kanji to get 'colored' names, which is kinda hard to get across. For labyrinth I 碧照ノ樹海, they use 碧 which is pronounced "midori". It means a type of sea-like blue-ish green, but I couldn't think of a decent synonym. I need a better replacement I guess (emerald was already taken :/). Then 照 = "shine" (not shrine) and 樹海 = woodlands, forest, etc. |

There are soundtests in the games after you beat the main campaign. I only have access to the first two games' soundtest, but would definitely be willing to make a tracklist based on those when I get some time in the near future. And yes, Auburn Thicket (for example) does sound better. As does Azure Rainforest, etc. If my soundtest is incomplete (as I haven't gotten all ending themes, etc., I'll refrain from adding a list (or will add "incomplete" to it)

Oh, didn't know about the sound tests, that's pretty cool.
If you could at least post them (even if incomplete) in a thread that'd be really nice. |

Yeah, when I get a chance, I'll definitely post them. May still be in a box from my move, but I'll get to them eventually!

Looking at this again, most of it makes sense to me, but what about 2-06? I can't wrap my head around what that is supposed to be saying?

Added the credits scan (Koshiro is credited as the sole arranger except for tracks 2-14 and 2-15). Wasn't sure who that was... Something-kawa... for the last name I imagine. It's a rough scan at the moment. I'll go back and clean it up later, but am about to head out for a bit. Just figured I'd put it there in case someone wanted to translate the performers, etc.

That would be frequent Koshiro cohort Takeshi Yanagawa.
I'll get dem performers up~ |

I'll add scans soon. |

Koshiro's most western sounding soundtrack? Reminds me of Soule in certain places, and even Hiroto Saitoh's Palais de Reine in others. Absolutely love it! The fact that this is the same guy who brought us the Wangan Midnight soundtracks just completely bowls me over, every time. Where else but VGM would you find such a God?!

Is "Legend of the Giant God" a fan translation, or has the English localization been announced already?

Ah ok. Though it says 'Legends of the Titan' there so we'll use that then.
