SSCX-10047: FINAL FANTASY IX Original Soundtrack PLUS
I need confirmation about the information provided on this website:
http://www.ffmusic.info/ff9plus.html This is the only place on the web where Tomoharu Hani is listed as arranger for "Melodies of Life [Silent Mix]" and not Kaoru Sasa. I guess that info is included in the liner notes, so if someone could check it... |

Just for curiosity, why Shiro Hamaguchi is assigned as an alias of Tomoaki Takehara in this album?

Oh my gosh! Nice catch.

Hahaha, no problem. I thought it was some mystery surrounding Tomoaki Takehara and Shiro Hamaguchi. :P

I have a question: where does Shiro Hamaguchi come in on this CD? I didn't see his name anywhere on the release... are we just giving him the credit for the CG songs? He always arranges that kind of stuff, but I don't see an actual credit for him anywhere. Actually, I must be missing something, because I don't see Kunihiko Kurosawa's name either. Late reply, but you're correct. He doesn't appear to be credited in this CD specifically. However, the Final Fantasy IX soundtrack credits him as orchestrator and so the credit was probably carried over to this CD as no one else is credited. I'd say it's definitely a safe assumption. Maybe something could be added to the notes section?

It would be interesting, I think, to restructure the soundtrack album altogether and fit each track chronologically where it goes into the game, so that technically this would be a five-disc OST.

I haven't listened to the OST+ much over the years because I didn't find the constant run of short tracks all that satisfying, but this order gives them some context and there's some beautiful stuff there. What a soundtrack. The rest are bonus tracks, which do not appear in the game at all, and personally I left these off the playlist. Last edited by student41269; Nov 29, 2017 at 03:25 AM. Rufus's Welcoming Ceremony is a track from Final Fantasy VII. Was it surely used in Final Fantasy IX as well, or they just put this "Millennium Version" arrangement on this soundtrack?

My memory isn't that good, but I remember a small band which travels with the "Tantalus" playing that track 1-2 times pretty much at the beginning part of the game.

Yep. I think they play it in the Evil Forest.

I did... then had a hard drive crash and lost the sequence it should go in.
It definitely was good that way though. Despite the shortness of the cinematic tracks, they are really nice and didn't feel to me to be jarring when mixed amongst the synth music. |

Um....not sure what's up with all the previous responses, but it CLEARLY says "Orchestration: Shiro Hamaguchi" on the back of the booklet.

...holy shit, I somehow never realized that we don't have a scan of the booklet back? I just checked the reprint's booklet and it says it there, not like that's undeniable proof but yeah, we don't have a scan of the booklet back. Wow. Okay, kind of stupid question by me a year and a half ago.
The scans for this entry look ridiculously complete, kind of understandable I missed that we don't have the back of the booklet ;__; |
