Officially localized as Miki Iwasa in the staff roll of Fantasy Life.

It's printed as Itsuki in the just-as-official Granblue Fantasy soundtrack though, which is why I left the name in Japanese. (Generally I would trust a Japanese source over an English one for this kind of thing.)

Or both! 8)

But yeah, since one of the names is wrong (at least) and I'm not sure which, I just left it in Japanese until it's clearer. If you look at the edit histories of those Fantasy Life albums, you'll see I changed it to Miki... but then back to the kanji later

From Kankyou's booklet:

Hmm... His is the only name in the booklet credits that isn't in Japanese.

Edit: So it's been printed in two(?) Japanese booklets as Itsuki. Miki comes from non-Japanese sources. I'm going to say Itsuki is correct here.

Sooo .... why was it changed to Miki in all other albums now?
I agree with nextday here that Miki looks like a mistake from non-japanese sources, so I would leave it only in the Hometown Story album.

I only changed it (as an alias) on the Fantasy Life related stuff since Iwasa was credited as Miki in the staff roll. Feel free to revert if it shouldn't be that way.

Following the way it's written in a booklet is ok, but I don't think we should follow an English staff roll if it's proven wrong.

Thinking about this person again. Any theories about who it could be? It's obviously a false name.

Uematsu trusted them with arranging the entire FANTASY LIFE soundtrack, and then again on GRANBLUE FANTASY. They also appeared in a minor role on Natsumi Kameoka's KanColle anime soundtrack. That was the last time they were credited on anything.

One of the musicians that Iwasa had employed on his tracks was guitarist Yuya Ebisawa, who has been a longtime collaborator of Naoshi Mizuta and Ryo Yamazaki. In fact, the majority of his contributions to the db are for soundtracks by those 2 composers: https://vgmdb.net/artist/13737

It seems like it wouldn't be a stretch to assume Iwasa was an alias of a former or current SQUARE ENIX employee.

If we're looking at SQEX composers + synth programmers who have worked with Yuya Ebisawa, there's also uhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Oh! I totally glanced over the wordplay with the name. I think you've hit the nail on the head.

+ he's hired Kameoka several times as an arranger on his soundtracks (Popup Story, Kamitsuri, Chocobo GP, Paranormasight).

So then I'm guessing he was moonlighting and didn't want SQUARE ENIX to know about it.

I can confirm it is what CHz assumed.

A few SE employees have helped Uematsu under aliases at that time, for example on the Anata wo Yurusanai soundtrack.

@Zanasea Do you have anything more you can say about the aliases on Anata wo Yurusanai, or can you not talk about it?

Unfortunately, I don't remember who is behind each alias!

Do you remember any of the names in general, even if you don't remember who was behind each alias?

In that case...
Kimio Itoyama = we already know this is Michio Okamiya
Keith Freeman = probably Kenichiro Fukui based on the initials K.F
L.Gallardo = Tsuyoshi Sekito owns a model of a Lamborghini Gallardo which can be seen in this Facebook post.

This leaves 2 aliases:
Whogon
F.N.R.

And two BLACK MAGES members:
Keiji Kawamori
Arata Hanyuda

I'm not seeing any obvious associations. If I had to guess, I would say Kawamori is Whogon and Hanyuda is F.N.R. I'm basing this solely on the fact that F.N.R only has a single, co-arranged track on Anata wo Yurusanai and Hanyuda only has a single arrange credit in the db (track 4 on this album). He seems less experienced as an arranger, so his track being a co-arrange would make more sense than Kawamori.

F.N.R. could be Feather [羽] New [入/新] Ricefield [田] (ha.nyu.da arata 羽入田 新)
