Many thanks for that - mastered by Yumiko Yamashita. A quick google shows she has mastered a lot of classical CDs, which is a positive sign in my book.

CHz, don't forget about checking these!
I finally finished ripping them, and I will need some help with some of the track titles before I add an "official" English track title. There are so many god damn character, ship, planet, galaxy names and so many different variations that I can't really get a good hold of what they should be. I will need someone familiar with the series (phono?) because I've never seen it and I don't know if there is an official localization. Quote:
Some of the issues I need assistance with: - A lot of what I'm seeing referred to as "Planets" in some of the English wiki material are labeled only as '星' in the track title, which is hoshi, which I've only ever known to be "star". Planet seems to be referred to as "惑星". Can hoshi be used to still mean a planet or are they really talking about stars and not planets? - Iskandall, Iscander or Iskander? - Desler, Dessler or Deslar? - Goruba or another variation? (308, 310) - In track 402, are they talking about "Susumu" the character (Susumu Kodai) or susumu the verb (to proceed/advance)? - 412 is a character name, Lt. Kiman, just making sure there aren't any additional variations. I didn't see any - 506 planet/star name "Dezarium", any other variations? - 603 Galman Gamilus. I've seen Galman/Garuman/Garman and Gamilus/Gamirusu/etc. - 606 Bolar Federation, is Bolar correct? - 607 Shalbart, is Shalbart correct? - Princess Ruda or Queen Ruda? kanji lit. is "princess" but everything I've seen refers to her as Queen. - 701 is very distinctly separated wtih spaces in the kanji ("水 物 語"), is that to reference a character or is it really just "Water Story"? Considering this is the start of the Final Yamato stuff and Aquarius from what I can make out is a water planet that explodes and drowns out another planet - 804 Lugal/Rugal/Rugaru/etc? - Denguil/Deingil/Dengar/???/etc? - 908 couldn't find any English for the ship name for "ガルンボルスト", I think the best I found was "Garnvolst" Any help on those would be appreciated! |

TOO LATE, ALREADY FORGOT
Okay disc 6 time Definitely: Isao Yomoda, Eiji Matsushita, Shigeru Matsumoto, Masahiro Ikumi (disc 4 dupe), Nobuo Kurata, Toshiyuki Arai, Fumio Shiroyama, Tsugio Tokuyama (disc 4 dupe) Likely: Toshio Araki You've got this transcribed correctly, but I found more hits for a percussionist Both names have a high probability of being read Fujio Saito. 大野 寺: Weird one. 大野寺 is Oonodera, a place & name, but it's absolutely broken into two parts in the scan. Can't say I've ever encountered 寺 as a name by itself. Transcribed correctly, although I'm convinced this is a typo for Toshio Araki

This is Tsuneo Takeda, he's worked with several of the other performers here. I've seen a few hits to Hiroyuki Saka, but it seems like it's Ban. "Ban" appears on this album: http://vgmdb.net/album/924. |

hnnnnggggggh disc 8
Definitely: Isao Eto, Sadanori Nakamure, Yoshinori Nomi, Osamu Nakajima, Kenji Yoshida (entry), Hitoshi Yokoyama, Junichi Kanezaki, Nobuo Kato, Akira Imai, Makoto Yamamoto, Kaoru Chiba, Yumi Shigematsu (the names in SUITE GRADIUS are printed in Japanese and English, so those readings are mostly fine), Sekka Ryu, Shigeo Kubota, Hiroki Mitani (Suite DQII credits are also dual Japanese & English), Hiromu Murayama, Masato Iwai (this is a cute way to write Masato~), Kazunori Kawasaki (Suite DQI credits are dual-language), Akira Tabuchi, Yo Kigoshi (also You), Hiroyuki Yamaguchi (DQII), Toshiyuki Kimata, Noriaki Kuroyanagi, Takashi Nagamine, Hirofumi Tamura, Kenichiro Tokunaga (DQI & II), Naofumi Nishida (DQI), Naoto Otomo Likely: Minoru Akiyama, Akira Fukushima, Katsuro Mitsumoto, Hiroshi Ikeda, Satoshi Ido, Yinlin Pan (藩 宣林), Haruo Fujii (藤井晴雄), Yoshiyuki Itoda (井戸田善人) Maybe: Kazuo Izumi, Katsuhiko Tezuka (手束勝彦), Happo Watanabe (渡辺八峯), Tomoo Uchida (内田智雄), Masahiko Kouno (河野昌彦), Kaname Miyashita (宮下 要) Stumped: 栗田正行, 長谷川正隆, 輦止隆麿, 佐々木麻里 "Violinists": I think what they really meant was "strings" like on disc 9, because a bunch of these people are not violinists. No music-related hits at all for this name, so I'm thinking it's in error. No suggestions for alternatives. This NHK Symphony Orchestra members list of uncertain reliability says Katsuhiko Tezuka: http://tc5810.fc2web.com/nhksomember.htm. Akira Fukushima: How is it that this guy's name appears in three different ways in this set? This is getting ridiculous. Someone with this name has apparently written several violin books, so there are some book hits with the name Tomoo Uchida: http://www.worldcat.org/title/barokk...oclc/675964960. Masahiko Kouno? http://www.jlogos.com/webtoktai/index.html?jid=10171361 There is a trumpet player whose name is read that way. There's a pianist Mari Sasaki with this name, but... Positive this is Yinlin Pan: http://vgmdb.net/artist/8510. Haruo Fujii according to DrillSpin and MPN. One or two random web hits to that name. There's an contrabass player Yoshiyuki Itoda (井戸田善之) who is (was?) part of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, so I think this is a bad typo for him. http://www.nhkso.or.jp/library/interview/330/ Last edited by CHz; Aug 25, 2012 at 04:33 PM. |

DISC 9 SO CLOSE
Definitely: Kazumi Takeda, Saburo Ueki, Takao Ochiai, Noyuri Sato, Ichiyou Anzai, Shusuke Nishikawa (nice letter from Stokowski ), Toshiki Fujisawa Likely: Katsuhiko Ijiri, Yuko Fujii, Akio Mukai Maybe: Hirofumi Tamura (田村愽之) Stumped: 高木 洋 Yuko Fujii: Credited here in English? The composer Hiroshi Takaki in the database was 12 when Final Yamato came out! I didn't have any luck finding a confirmed string player with that name. Your picture is a bit blurry so I can't tell for sure, but I think the third character should be 博, not 愽. In either case, I think this name is probably a mistake for the Hirofumi Tamura on disc 8. |

Curiously, on Drillspin profile his hiragana reading is written Hiromu (ひろむ), not Hiroshi (ひろし). Anyway, I've made an entry for him here. |
