And does it play the same music for that battle that it does for the first battle? Or rather, does the "Silver Dragons Battle" track play for all the Silver Dragon battles? If so, then yeah, leave it plural.

Yes, it plays only during that specific scene. The boss battles with the Silver Dragon actually just have "Battle 2" playing during them.

Then I reinstate my argument that we make it Dragon because it is significant of the battle with that single Silver Dragon. Thanks for the info Despite having started a new game I doubt I'll have ever made it there between my friend's obsession with Tetra Master and my general disinterest in the game.

Err... I meant that it only plays during the scene with the party breaking through the dragon army.... sorry for the poor word choice on my part...

Then we should keep it the way it is! I may have just read something wrong, my apologies.

I still say we should change Dali to Border Village, since I think we're doing the U.S. name thing.

(sighs)
It'd be so much easier for all of us if Square and Japanese composers released official translations for their soundtracks.
I've decided to make my own "proper" tracklist based on everyone's notes and suggestions. After all, it all comes down to personal preference (provided it's relative to the context). I tried to ignore the itunes tracklist, but kept the translated track names from printed cd media (like Tokyopop releases, Uematsu Selection), and made up my mind on the rest. So, thanks everyone!

May I suggest "Broken Spell & Cleared Mind" for a more relative meaning than the itunes title?

Also, shouldn't Moogle's Theme be Moogles' Theme?

Finally, the voice @ A Song From Her Memory (2.04) is Emiko Shiratori's?

dispel is a spell in ff that removes a status brought by a spell (magic) so I think dispel is better than broken
and for the order of words, it intents "magic dispelled and mind cleared" by something but not specified

Yeah, no argument there. We're basically saying the same thing, either your suggestion or mine works just about the same in terms of meaning, I just wanted to dump the Broken/Healed Hearts phrase

I'm a little confused about 1.30, Kagiriaru Jikan (Toki). Why is とき at the end of the original title if 間 (which makes it the very common compound, "jikan") is prefixed with 時 (toki)? Is it actually supposed to be read kanji for kanji? In that case, I don't even know what it becomes.

And my general rule of thumb when it comes to suffixes: if it's a suffix after a name, I add a dash between the name and the suffix; otherwise not (e.g. Gin Ryuu-sen and Qu-zoku no Numa). I haven't seen any guidelines, or anything, on how we deal with this yet, so of course I don't mind if someone decides it's a bad idea.

I'm pretty sure it's just indicating that 時間 is supposed to be read as toki, not jikan.

But isn't 時 itself toki? Then that leaves 間 out. It is confusing indeed.

It's just typical kanji wordplay. I recall having seen other examples exactly like this one somewhere else.

Here's an NHK documentary series that uses the same wordplay of reading 時間 as toki: http://www.nhk.or.jp/bswomen/lineup/shukubo.html.

because it's furigana, Kagiriaru Toki (not jikan)

Yeah, I know what furigana is, but I have never seen that reading for the compound. And after I checked the possible readings on JDIC, it seemed even more impossible. That's as far as I went though, so thanks for the reference, CHz

Ah, well the problem was assuming that toki is supposed to be a "valid" reading for the characters in 時間. This is a case of substituting the pronunciation of one word for another.

A pretty common example is using towa (永久) for eien (永遠): http://vgmdb.net/album/33510.

Furigana: sometimes it's helpful, sometimes it's a joke! Thanks, Japan! :V

about Gulg, Gulug is used because of localization?
because, Amarant wasn't used so I don't see why Gulug should (since, in the jap game, it's Gulg Volcano written below the jap name like other places)

same remark for Village of Dali, Burmecian Kingdom, Dark City Treno, Madain Sari(,) Lost Summoners, Ipsen's Heritage
with a little thought about other places, I don't think stuff like "the Windy Mountain Village" for Conde Petie, etc. is meant to be added in a translated tracklist
because it's like a subtitle to describe the place that the english name doesn't have (I think that for other albums/games too)

Oh, I wasn't aware that the readings were different between the Japanese and English versions of the game. Pretty neat that they showed the readings of places in the Japanese version! I'll change Gulug to Gulg in my romaji tracklist above.

Has anyone ever tried to put together a chonological playlist that combines both the OST and OST Plus?

I never gave it a try to see how good it is, but student41269 made such a list in the discussion of the Plus soundtrack.
