Default VGM Webcasts: Nitro Game Injection (Sun 3PM ET) & GameFuel (Mon 9PM ET)

I am repurposing this thread to cover my two VGM webcasts: GameFuel (GF), a more traditional radio show that I do by myself, and Nitro Game Injection (NGI), a discussion and music show where I'm joined by Liontamer and Suraida to talk about the VGM world. Both are hosted on Arecibo Radio and released after recording as podcasts on the KNGI website.

NGI broadcasts live on Sundays at 5PM Eastern, while GameFuel is scheduled for Mondays at 9PM Eastern.

__________________________________________

GameFuel is a weekly dose of hard-hitting music, particularly of the videogame and videogame-inspired variety, as well as chiptunes, nerdcore and original rock and metal. It is a continuation of Nitro Game Injection's pre-episode 100 format and is hosted by KyleJCrb.

__________________________________________

Nitro Game Injection (NGI) is a video game music and discussion podcast that focuses on original soundtracks, remixes, covers, chiptunes, doujin music, game-inspired originals, and the communities that encompass them. It began in early 2003 as a live webcast and has gone on for over 100 episodes. On episode 113, the show shifted to podcast format, but with 128 will switch back to live webcasting along with releasing the recordings of the live shows as podcasts.

The show is hosted by Kyle "KyleJCrb" Crouse and Larry "Liontamer" Oji, former VG Frequency radio show host, VGMdb staff member, and OverClocked ReMix judge, who has been co-host as of episode #113. The show has also been joined by newcomer Suraida. VGM Decibel host and doujin expert Audun "AkumuHau" Sorlie previously co-hosted episodes 100 to 109, and will return for future cameos in some episodes.

The show features video game discussion, news on recent releases and happenings within the community, interviews with artists, requests, and more!

We've already released many great shows (I recommend sticking with episode 100 and beyond: The earlier episodes aren't quite up to par with the newer stuff, in my personal opinion), and have some great plans upcoming, including interviews with remixers and other personalities. We're also partnering with the great guys at VGMdb's own podcast, VGM Decibel, so we'll be providing supplemental information and cross-promotion along with them. Thanks for checking it out!

Happy Alien Invasion Day! To help tide you over between the food, booze, and explosives, we have a brand new episode.

KyleJCrb shows that he did not do the research on any discussion points, and unashamedly peddles for money via the NGI Amazon Store while Liontamer dreams of being famous and mounting 22-inch rims to his wall while swimming in dollar bills. They also discuss the many lyrical interpretations of Mega Man, hate on RPGs, pay tribute to the loss of game development's whipping boy Duke Nukem Forever, and as always, much more!

Nitro Game Injection #120: Skyrocket Slam

(Special Thanks to Mae for writing up the Show Notes this week!)

In an exclusive NGI interview, Andrew "OA" Luers sits down to discuss the upcoming OverClocked ReMix album 'Final Fantasy IV: Echoes of Betrayal, Light of Redemption', his initial feelings on being a part of the OverClocked ReMix judges panel, his experiences with SnappleMan's mom, and tons more! Don't miss FOUR exclusive tracks: Two from the upcoming Final Fantasy IV album, Andrew's new cut from SaGa Frontier 2, and remake of a remix originally featured on the 'Radical Dreamers: Thieves of Fate' album. Check it!

I've been listening ever since Larry joined the show, but I went backwards several episodes to listen to Kyle and Akumu. Let me tell you, Akumu has some hilariously raunchy stories. Anyway, it's good hearing some new choice mixes because I'm not active in listening to the work of the remixing communities. Kyle puts on a great show and Larry fits in nicely!

Hey guys, I know it's been awhile since Larry and I have dropped an episode, but we're getting back into the swing of things and will be posting a new show very soon. If you want to help out (it may get the next episode out quicker!) and hear your voice on the show, we're looking for bumpers or identifiers (or as Wikipedia calls them, sweepers) to segue between songs to replace some of the older ones that I've been reusing for awhile now. Essentially, all you need to do is record yourself saying "This is [YOUR NAME] (optionally, you can add "from [YOUR COMMUNITY OF CHOICE], like OCR, VGMix, DoD, The Shizz, or whatever) and you're listening to Nitro Game Injection," but you can feel free to get creative with it and have some fun. Check out some samples to get a better idea, and have some fun with it. If you do decide to drop us an ident, we will use it and thank you on an upcoming episode.

Just email it to [email protected], PM me, or just post it in this thread. Thanks!

Kyle and Larry take you back to a time before the Reset Generation contest winners and the Metroid Metal Varia Suite were announced, before Arm Cannon’s new followup album was released, when Summoning of Spirits was in Nintendo Power, and when Dwelling of Duels had 3 entries. They also discuss the Otakon convention, Baconaisse, Game Unicon, and much more.

NGI #123 - September 23rd, 2009

To prove that NGI is NOT dead, KyleJCrb and Liontamer have returned with a jam-packed show! This time, the guys confirm the pronunciation of Live A Live while subsequently slaughtering the names of songs, remixers, and composers, as well as coining new terms, dropping the details on PAX ‘09, and laying down the hate on a number of games. Check out this exciting new episode!

Hiatus? What hiatus? Kyle & Larry are back to give you a dose of great game music. On this episode, the duo talk weather, surf rock, Captain Lou Albano, and of course, games and game music. Album reviews return to NGI, and the guys take an in-depth look at Metroid Metal’s newest release, Varia Suite.

o hai VGMdb

We started doing this thing again a couple weeks ago, in association with Arecibo Radio. We now have the show live on their stream every Sunday at 3 PM Eastern Time. Of course we are continuing to release the episodes as podcasts as well, so I hope some of you VGMdb gurus will check it out.

Been awhile since I've posted here. We're still going strong and have had some huge things happening on the show lately:

A few months back, we had Christopher Tin on the show. Fresh on the heels of his amazing Grammy win for composing 'Baba Yetu' for Civilization IV, he talks about how he felt about winning, the Grammy process, and gave plenty of other awesome insight into the road to his success. Go listen!

Second, we dedicated an entire episode to the 20th anniversary of Frank Klepacki, the legendary composer behind the Command & Conquer game series, as well as Star Wars: Empire At War and the upcoming End of Nations. Check it out!

Just this past weekend, we put together a special episode for Commodore computers and the C64 arrangement community, and had the opportunity to sit down with one of the most renowned composers EVER, Chris Huelsbeck! Turrican, Jim Power, Gianna Sisters, and R-Type are just some of the well-regarded franchises that he's made his mark on, as well as composing for new iOS projects like ZombieSmash! and the upcoming browser-based Star Trek: Infinite Space! Listen to it!

We've also had plenty of other great guests, including brentalfloss, Daniel Baranowsky, The Megas, bLiNd, Mega Ran, Bassil from Powerglove, Stemage of Metroid Metal, and AJ LoCascio!

This week, we will be welcoming the lovely and talented Laura Intravia on the show, who you might know better as "Flute Link." She is a classically-trained composer, arranger, and vocalist, currently working with the awesome Video Games Live concert series, as well as contributing to her first game soundtrack: Otomedius Excellent. Don't miss it this Sunday!

Hey VGMdb, it's been awhile, but the show goes on! Tonight we're celebrating our NINTH anniversary, and will feature VGMdb's favorite crazy Nordic man Akumu along with tons of other special guests! 4 PM US Eastern Time on http://areciboradio.com is the place to be. Hope to see you there!
