Anyone know where these are from?

Also, how about those synth toms that SuperSweep has used a lot (among other artists)? It has a very distinct sound to it.
ohhh I hope we can find the Megamam Zero sample!

Added some drum samples from Gradius II to my list. I think the closed hihat is probably from the RX-11 as well, but my ears just wouldn't give me that 100% confidence in saying so.

Only tangentially related to the topic, but at around 4:25 in the Capcom Friendly Club CFC Style Vol. 1 Video, a short glimpse of the mid 90's Capcom sound department can be seen. And sure enough, there in the background, to the left of Toshio Kajino's head are a Roland U-110 and an AKAI S1100!

Not sure what the black machine(s?) between those two is, but perhaps if it was identified it could lead to more identified sounds from other Capcom games of that era.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. No idea what's being said, but it's still cool to watch regardless.

Went through Zero-G's Datafile 1 last night and recognized a couple voice clip samples, one used in Street Fighter 3: Third Strike's Hugo stage theme, the other in the first opening theme of Gundam Wing. Added them both to my list earlier in the thread.

Found one more Super SF2 sample: The ride cymbal is from the Korg T1.

Edit: And yet one more. The saxophone is from a Roland S-550 library. I can't recall a saxophone actually ever being used in the soundtrack offhand, so it might be another case of unused data, but I ought to check to make sure.

Not yet. I'm hoping someday I can get a hold of the Akai S-900/S-950 libraries, because if that guitar lick sample I mentioned in the Darkstalkers sample listing is any indication, Capcom was using those. Also the image I posted above shows they used an S1100, and it was backwards compatible with those libraries. I have managed to come across this catalog which has a listing of all the libraries, but no luck in finding either disk images or actual disks for sale online.

EDIT: Actually I do have samples from Teyandee's soundtrack identified that I still need to add to my list. I'll get around to that soon.

I haven't looked into any of his games that much, but I'm pretty sure I remember Super Mario World having a snare drum from the Roland R-8 (the same Reverb Snare that the CPS1 Street Fighter IIs used). That was a very famous and widely-used drum machine, nearly everyone was using it back in the early to mid 90s.

Interesting thing I found out: the vocal sample from Snow Mountain in Zelda TP was used in Majora's Mask as well. Don't know which track though.. (but I guess it's gotta be Snow Mountain there as well?)

And I also think OMINOUSITY from Distorted Reality was used in Majora's Mask. Again, not quite sure which track (maybe Snowhead Temple, but I'm very iffy about that...), but there's a sample in the game that's alike it. If you hear the actual sample from the game itself, you might tnink otherwise, but it's the same with the ELVES sample (from reverse Stone Tower Temple theme).. it sounds very dull in comparison. And since the OMINOUSITY sample is basically pure ambience, that probably makes it even worse compared to the original (and of course - the pitch is slightly different as well).

Biohazard 0 (Resident Evil 0)
  • "BAD GUY" from "Spectrasonics: Distorted Reality" was used in 5.21 "養成所メインテーマ" (track number and title from the box) (0:39)

Devil May Cry 2
  • "QUASIMODO" from "Spectrasonics: Distorted Reality 2" was used in 1.04 "EYE OF THE WIND (Lower Town)"
  • "FUZZ TUBES" from "Spectrasonics: Distorted Reality 2" was used in 1.18 "EYE OF THE WIND (Uppertown)"
  • "GULLS" from "Spectrasonics: Distorted Reality 2" was used in 1.18 "EYE OF THE WIND (Uppertown)"

Spyro the Dragon
  • "SUPER TREM" from "Spectrasonics: Distorted Reality" was used in "Gnasty Gnorc" (not on any official soundtrack)

Thanks to peronmls for the find of the GULLS sample.

Big thanks for compiling this list! It's pointed me to a few samples I've been looking for for quite some time.

I've got a few more samples I'm interested in finding sources for, but before that, I've got some duplicates mentioned in the thread that I've heard in other locations.

First off, the TRANSFORME sample from Spectrasonics: Distorted Reality 2 is also used in:
Myst 3: Exile track 17 - "The Airship Chasm" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQnEpunUDxs&t=7s )
Uru Music track 3 - "Out of the Hive" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-BOPts42rk )
Wave Race: Blue Storm - Lost Temple Lagoon (Stormy) ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9djK9Le6Fw ).

Second, Track 76 from Best Service: Voice Spectral has also made appearances in:
Cruis'n World - "Cairo Cruis'n" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKFVLlz0oL4&t=20s )
Parasite Eve 2 track 2.16 - "Ark" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COEo3G-Modk&t=39s )
Kakuto Chojin - "Love-Hate Chant" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WU1SLwUDDw )

Third, I don't know what the sample is called, but in the "DR2 Lives" demo for the same library, it uses one of the same drum loops used in Uru Music track 4 - "Badlands" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u092jgfqC-U ).

As for the ones I'm trying to find the sources for:

The filtered drum loop used in:
Wave Race: Blue Storm - Aspen Lake ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzHwH1NAUr4 )
Castlevana: Lament of Innocence track 10 - "Dark Palace of Waterfalls" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjW8bATf--Y&t=1m7s )

SOLVED
The loop with the shakers and triangle used in:
Wave Race: Blue Storm - Aspen Lake Intro ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iueek0npTN8&t=3m19s )
Resident Evil 4 track 2.01 - "Infiltration" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0p7w966kCXI&t=7s )

The guitar riff in:
Conker's Bad Fur Day track 11 - "Surf Punks" ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNNnzQtIkco&t=11s )
Tekken 3 Arcade track 12 - "Eddy Gordo" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaP0qm9jZ5Y&t=9s )

And finally, it's possible that this is the LULU BOY1 sample from Spectrasonics: Symphony of Voices listed under Xenosaga 2, but I don't have that library to verify. This is in reference to the vocal phrase in:
Xenosaga ep. 1 track 2.11 (or 2.22 in the second edition) - "Song of Nephilim" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36Nt3P3MI4g&t=6s )
Xenosaga ep. 2 track 2.15 - "Nephilim" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlLPC6DPcII )
Uru Music track 14 - "Trailer Music" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEURZ6B9YxI&t=1m4s )
and it even makes an appearance in Team America: World Police, but not on the soundtrack for some reason

Cool, thanks, I'll look into the samples you mentioned!

This was actually already found. Maybe you looked under R, as in "Resident Evil"? The Resident Evil series are under the original titles (Biohazard).

Found one sample from Biohazard 2 (& 3!) while searching for that guitar riff in Tekken 3. I THINK I've heard it in one of the libraries I have at this point.

Biohazard 2 (Resident Evil 2)
  • "Track 54" (sample 13) from "Zero-G: Datafile 3" was used in 01 "The Beginning Of Story" (1:04)

Biohazard 3 (Resident Evil 3)
  • "Track 54" (sample 13) from "Zero-G: Datafile 3" was used in 1.26 "Coldhearted Soldier" (0:04)

I also recognize that sample at ~0:12 in "The Beginning Of Story". If anyone knows the sample, please let me know (I'm thinking it's another Zero-G library, perhaps one of the Cuckooland libs).

Added one Mario Paint sample (harp glissando) that I was able to identify thanks to Best Service's "Cult Sampler" bundle. Said bundle doesn't give any information on its source beyond "Akai S612 & S900", but the aforementioned catalog I came across has a disk for the S612 that consists of two harp glissandos, so I would assume it's from that. Said Mario Paint song also includes a second upward glissando, which could very likely be the other glissando on that same disk, but there's no way to confirm that at the moment.

This is a really old sampler, and one whose libraries would be particularly hard to get a hold of and search through, seeing as they use a strange QuickDisk format that requires having the original hardware to do anything with them, as opposed to floppy disk or CD based libraries which can be read by a PC with the proper software.

Working on adding the Teyandee samples. I'm listening to everything again to jog my memory. Amusingly, the Harmonica sound used in the theme song is seemingly the same Yamaha DX7 one used in Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do with It"!

Devil May Cry
  • "Witch Doctor-D#2" from "Zero-G: Cuckooland 'ghost in the machine'" was used in 1.18 "ST-04 (古城地下ステージ)" (0:14)
  • "Is that the Door-G#3" from "Zero-G: Cuckooland 'ghost in the machine'" was used in 1.18 "ST-04 (古城地下ステージ)" (0:26)

EDIT: Whoa!

Knife Edge: Nose Gunner
  • "Riff 04 31-06" from "Sounds Good: Methods of Mayhem" was used in "Path Select" (not on any official soundtrack)

Didn't think I'd ever find a sample from such an obscure N64 game.

EDIT 2:

Also I found a sample, but I guess it wasn't really what I thought it was. Reminded me of the vocal(?) thingy in "Shadow" from ICO: "SYNTHPADS_OS_SOUND94_SK" from Zero-G: Skinned.

I'm pretty confident about this now. I slowed it down by 25% where it sounds quite a bit closer to the DR sample itself.

EDIT: I don't know if it was really used in Snowhead Temple / Snow Mountain (even though it's in that bank), but I definitely hear it in Ikana Valley, and it is much more audible in the actual game than in the track on the soundtrack release (PICA-2006 anyway). It starts about 0:07.

Yea its probably it. Also in that track Ikana Valley 0:06 that scrap synth thing I have heard in a library. Most likely Distorted reality.

Ok, all the samples I have identified from Teyandee at the moment have been added to my list earlier in the thread. They sure got a lot of mileage out of that Roland R-8! Like I said earlier, that was a very famous and widely used machine, and it would have been pretty new at the time this show was made.

Virtua Fighter 2
  • "Track 35" (sample 7) from "Zero-G: Datafile One" was used in 04 "BLACK CAT MOON"

Lost Child
  • "DEMENTOR" from "Spectrasonics: Metamorphosis" was used in 2.06 "Trespass" (HBMC-021)

Found some samples from KH1 used as SFX. They are Sephiroths SFX and they all come from Zero G Ambient 1.

Zero 2 - Used when he is has successfully locks on to you when he uses the death spell. When you get that aurora around you as it comes in you hear like a hhhaAAaa voice effect which is in fact saying "Zero". (Kind cool and creative)

Monoilth - Uses a couple of times. When he is using meteor and supernova and the asteroids start spinning you start hearing this.

Belltress2 - This one is tough to hear. You hear it as he powers up and says "I am the chosen one" with that green aurora.

There is probably more in there.

Its hard to hear because the PS2s synth warps it into what the sound designers programmed it to do. I was able to hear the samples by extract them so i can hear what they sound like unmodded with no noise.

EDIT: Also Ocarina of time cave ambience. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9bjzC-x-uM at 0:06

Its SPACEOSPHERE from Ambient 1. You have to pitch bend them both the opposite way at the same time. Heres a little demo i made of it. Its not dead on put its what he used. https://www.mediafire.com/?1hmfj8dbhojdlg2

Breath of Fire IV has lots, but one that recently stood out was the male voice sample in Song of the Plains which also shows up in a Grandia II town track ("Nightmare Village Milm"). Don't know the source.

Aoki does some fun things to the sample. She makes it a bit more exotic by stretching it out and adding inflection common to many indigenous vocalizations.
