In particular, Tadahiro's classic compositions for games on the MSX platform were received with wide acclaim and are exemplary of pushing the combination of FM and PSG audio to the limit. Examples are Illusion City, the Xak series and Fray in Magical Adventure. CALL VOICE features 6 new compositions by Tadahiro. All instrument tracks on the album were created by programming an actual MSX2+, recording the FM and PSG output, followed by post-production and mixing. Dedicated to all who love MSX! Y-City Y-City is a tribute to Yokkaichi, a port city of around 300.000 inhabitants, located in north-central of Mie Prefecture. The city was also the location of Microcabin, the software company that produced many classic games for which Tadahiro Nitta composed the music. In Tadahiro-san's words: "Yokkaichi is the city that raised me. " &HB4 and B5$ These titles do not have a deeper meaning, but are a syntax often used in Tadahiro's BASIC programs to compose music, He felt sympathy with the expressions and used them as carriers of his music. U-Ka U-Ka (羽化) means the emergence (of insects), hatching from an egg or their pupal case. The song refers to an experience Tadahiro had in his garden. One time in July he noticed a Cicada, a type of insect, in a fruit tree and was deeply touched by its wonderful appearance. This type of insect sings many songs during summer. A few days later Tadahiro observed another Cicada that was still developin It died the next day because it couldn't stretch its beautiful wings. Tadahiro witnessed both the beauty and the cruelty of Mother Nature and infused this emotion in his music. TPorFD TAPE or FD? A title with a wink. Tape or floppy disk, not something you would ask these days. But you can hear the nod to old times in the music. Oasis Oasis is a collaboration with Gyabuneko, who created the chords, the electric piano and a mysterious sound that closely resembles the cooing of a specific type of pigeon you can find in the mountains of Japan. It is not living in flocks, but mostly on its own. Japanese love this pigeon and will recognize the cooing immediately. |
