Happy 25th and 30th anniversaries, Link's Awakening!
The original "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX" was one of the first games I ever played and truly immersed myself with. Back then, I had no idea how special of a game it was (and still is), amongst Zeldas (not that I don't like the others!), and Nintendo's 2019 Switch release made me realize the magic of nostalgia combined with a newfound wonder of revisiting this amazing game so much later in my life.
And, yes, I do highly recommend the 2019 Switch remake! It's not only, by itself, an absolute treat, and incredible game, but it does justice to the original game, and that of course includes Ryo Nagamatsu's top tier soundtrack. It sports an amazing remade soundtrack, on top of several new tracks, 2 of which I loved enough to cover for this album.
This album is a convergence of a lot of things: love for video game music, the desire to challenge myself on producing a solo album, the transformative nature of video game covers, and wondering what we're all really trying to chase towards in life, and whether it'll all disappear if we wake up from this dream or nightmare (👀).
