Notes from Parent Album: “Don't be tardy or you'll miss your party!”
Celebrate the vibrant world of Viva Piñata with this newly crafted reorchestration of Grant Kirkhope’s iconic score—reimagined and enhanced by Kirkhope himself. Pressed on 2xLP confetti vinyl and housed in a beautiful gatefold jacket, this edition stands as the definitive way to experience the soundtrack, bringing renewed vibrancy, clarity, and emotional depth to every beloved theme from Piñata Island. Performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and recorded at Smecky Music Studio, this lush new production elevates the whimsy, charm, and sweeping orchestral color that made Viva Piñata unforgettable—now presented with cinematic richness and refined detail. Mixed and mastered by Gareth Williams, the soundtrack shines with warmth, balance, and polish befitting its orchestral scale.
Featuring liner notes by Justin Cook, lead designer for the Viva Piñata series, with additional reflections from composer Grant Kirkhope and designer and animator Steve Mayles, this release offers an intimate look at the creative world behind the music and its enduring legacy. Completing the package is stunning album artwork by Steve Mayles, capturing the joyful explosion of personality and color that defines the series.
A must-have collectible for fans of orchestral game scores, charming musical storytelling, and Grant Kirkhope’s timeless melodies—don’t be late, the party’s already started!
"I have to say, working on Viva Piñata was one of my favourite projects. It was the first time that I got to use live orchestra and I really didn't know what to expect. All the preparation for the sessions went well with the awesome Nic Raine, who did all the orchestration for me, and has been a friend ever since, but nothing prepares you for that first note when they start to play your music ….. truly breathtaking!
I think I shed a tear after the first few notes of Island Welcome, it was fantastic to hear my music being played by real people, they bring it all to life in a way that only humans can.
I remember at the end of the sessions for Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, the last piece to get recorded was Bedtime Story and James Fitzpatrick, who was the orchestral contractor, said I should go into the recording room and thank the orchestra. I got up on the podium and started to say how much I loved their playing but burst into tears before I could get the words out, I think they got the point … haha! Getting a BAFTA nomination for this score was just incredible, as a Brit I'd seen the awards ceremony over the years but never dreamt I'd be a part of it, truly something I'll remember forever.
I'm so pleased to be able to bring this score back, recorded with the same orchestra in the same studio that I originally did it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have revisiting it." - Grant Kirkhope
