Notes

I have always dreamed of covering the music from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and here is the first instalment of my series of albums dedicated to that IP: The Hedgehog Initiative.

As the Album progresses, you will notice a subtle change in audio quality. This is because I started this album a while ago as a side project when I first started recording guitar and producing on computers. I hope this doesn't deter from the music itself. I hope you enjoy as I have put many, many hours into this, trying to get it to sound the way I want. :)

- Track notes -

1. Green Hill Zone Guitar Cover

When you ask someone to name a Sonic song, 9/10 it will be this one, and for good reason. I have always loved this song and have very fond memories playing through this level countless times. I apologise for the sound quality, but this was my very first attempt at guitar recording and producing.

2. Marble Zone Guitar Cover

Marble Zone's dark, mysterious tone is completely different from Green Hills happy-go-lucky adventure tune, and it fits so well into the mix. I think this song sounds great played in a rock band.

3. Spring Yard Zone Guitar Cover

This funky little tune has always had a special place in my heart. Countless memories of bouncing around on the springs and platforms of Spring Yard Zone.

4. Labyrinth Zone Guitar Cover

I hated this level as a child, and still have a lasting resentment for it, but every sonic games needs a tense underwater ruin level. Thankfully, it was accompanied by some great music to help endure the pain. I enjoyed using my crybaby wah pedal on this song.

5. Starlight Zone Guitar Cover

This song has to be one of my favourite Sonic songs of all time, second only to Sky Sanctuary Zone. This song has an almost tranquil feel to it, whilst keeping it essence of speed and adventure.

6. Scrap Brain Zone

This song has a particularly mechanically evil sound to it, fitting of old blubberbutt himself. I decided to use Chorus on this song to give it a much more mechanical, oiled up feel.

7. Ro-Boss-Nik (Boss Theme Guitar Cover)

I decided to merge both the Boss theme and the Final Boss theme into one song, as they work rather well together. I had fun recording this, because I had a bit more room to play around.

8. All Clear! (End Medley Cover)

Re-recording all the previous songs gave me a chance to change things about, and considering I have learned a lot more about recording and producing it sounds quite good! This always gave me a real sense of achievement hearing this, so I'm glad I covered it!
