The name of the game contains a pun where the first character of kaijuu (monster) is changed to the character of shell or shellfish, thus giving Shell Monsters.

The composer, Haruyoshi Rokudo is the Bass/Keyboards /Piano player from an 80's band called Anzen Chitai.
