Karazija was born in Santa Clara and raised in San Jose. He started playing guitar around age 15 or 16 and became a self-taught vocalist. Formed the musical project "Low Roar" in 2011.

In early 2002, Ryan Karazija would start the formation of indie rock group, Audrye Sessions, performing around coffeehouses in Livermore, Calif. The band soon relocated in late 2010 to Reykjavik, Iceland and renamed themselves to Low Roar.
