I find that the vast majority of people don't respond to messages.
They initiate conversation and negotiations then just cut you dead without explanation or care. I guess it's possible that the messaging system doesn't work sometimes, however I have specifically asked people to respond or asked if they have received my messages and they generally respond after a second message.
If I'm honest I think it is more to with rudeness and laziness but people seem to think it's ok.
I used to get really annoyed with it, but now I simply block people who couldn't give a crap enough about me to give 2 minutes of their lives to respond, especially if it was they who instigated the proceedings.
