Noun / Stem of Adjectival noun (形容動詞 語幹) + なのだ。/なのです。
1) If they are split by morpheme
>> na no da. / na no desu.
2) なの can be changed to なん, so なんだ。/なんです。 often used as colloquial style.
>> nan da. / nan desu.
These are what I grammatically understand, but how should we actually romanize なのだ(です) and なんだ(です)?

It seems the hiragana form of 何だ/何です(なんだ/なんです) could cause confusion in some cases.
need to look at context for the cases.
