Spyro 2 doesn't have a soundtrack so i can't give a more specific description, but if you actually do check out the DMC track i mentioned, you'll see (it's a 6-note sample).
If Hidenori Iwasaki created the sample in FM4, Masafumi Takada could've asked him for a pure sample.
BTW vocals are sampled all the time despite not being perfectly clean in songs, not impossible (filtering).
