The Die Hard Game Club never sold PC games, their specialty was Japanese consoles like Mega Drive / CD, PC Engine, Super Famicom, Neo Geo, FM Towns Marty and music CDs. Given that, I'm convinced it's a Japanese tune from a console or an arrangement on a music CD. But I wouldn't rule out anything at this point.

Although the bass line I hummed could easily come from an X68000 or NEC PC-98.
