Hey Jedi, yeah that has certainly been the case before (I previously started a general poll over at the classic gaming board which is taking a break right now as I wanted to do some more research), and at gamefaqs especially certain series and genres have a stronger following.
For 1987 I went with Robo Warrior (and mainly for its main theme) but I'm also fond of Ultima III, Metal Gear and others.
