The Calendar link replaces the Staff CP link (which has been moved to the far right, underneath the login info). It's just a fancy release list with various navigation options to move back and forth between months, jump to a particular month/year, or jump to a particular date within the page. Artist birthdays are also listed in the side panel. There's still some additional tweaking to be done such that artists start showing up only after they've gotten their first album credit, so don't be surprised if you see ages in the single digits!

Albums with unknown release dates are listed at the bottom for each month. I haven't implemented the yearly views yet, so for now albums with unknown release months are dumped in January. This would be a good time to check for incorrect release info.
