Anime composers generally have stricter deadlines and less freedom to compose whatever they like. I'm glad that Hamauzu is getting a chance to compose, and whatever he composes, I'll buy, but I agree that I wouldn't expect something at the same level as, say, SaGa Frontier II or the better parts of FFXIII.
