Default Arrangement

Hi friend :3

I did arrangements back in the day.

Let's say you have a piece like Donkey Kong 64's main menu theme. That's written for some percussion, a flute, a xylophone, a miscellaneous low brass (it's hard to tell cause it's a bad sample), and some other instruments.

But you want your high school symphonic band to play it. There is a notable lack of screaming monkeys and bongoes. There may not even be a xylophone.

So what do you make? An arrangement! You change up some instruments, but keep basically the same harmonic structure and melodies (tho you will probably change the key) and voila! Your band is now playing Donkey Kong!

Idk if you ever played in a high school band or orchestra, but you may have noticed there's an 'arranged by' credit right below the composer. That's the arranger, the guy who took the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack and arranged it for your little symphonic band consisting of a dozen 11 year olds.

Hope that helps :3
