Hey, I've been looking at your playlist more and I'm coming to really like this idea.
Two questions:
1) what game used a Pigeon John song? Love me some PJ!
2) who used Massive Attack's "Teardrop"?
It's really too bad that Spotify doesn't allow the playlist author to have a "comments" column in the playlist. You could say which game each song represents and how (commercial, played in-game, played in an intro / ending).
I wanted to suggest some really great ones to you: FALLOUT SERIES!
Fallout 1: "Maybe" by The Ink Spots
Fallout 2: "A Kiss To Build A Dream" by Louis Armstrong
Fallout 3: "I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire" by The Ink Spots
Fallout 4: "It's All Over But The Crying" by The Ink Spots (this is per the trailers)
Fallout 3 & New Vegas also have a bunch of weird awesome old-timey songs. The most shocking one is this song "Butcher Pete" used in F3. I HIGHLY recommend you put it in the playlist!
There was also this PS2 / Xbox action RPG that used the Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance Engine called "Brotherhood of Steel" which had a lot of modern rock/metal from the mid '00s, all used for boss fights.
