Then again he's listed first in the Japanese version, and the music does indeed have that Contra / Gradius II FC flavor... The american credits could be a misplacement due to lazyness (three lines for composers, who did the port takes a slot, no more lines available, Maezawa gets in the thanks). It's also unlikely that a person so talented to create the custom chip didn't want to toy with it at its first commercial debut.
The way I see it, the fact that he states that he didn't touch the US version only proves that Sasaki was in charge of the conversion, not that Maezawa isn't a composer for the game.
