It seems totally OK (to me) as it is, Japanese name order I mean.
By the way, if you look at the artist page edit history, unicode fields are called 'namefamilykanji' and 'namegivenkanji' so it was definitely made with Japanese artist on mind and it's completely understandable. However, I'm glad the unicode fields can be sometimes used for other characters as well...
