Have you tried composing much?

It takes a long time. That's just to get the notes right. Add to that the jobs of producing scores for players, recording, mixing, and implementation, and it takes longer. For an hour and a half to two hours of music, a composer deserves at least a year to create something of high quality.

There is the rare composer that can write quickly and efficiently and not suffer in quality (geniuses like Mozart and Shostakovich), but mere mortals need more time.
