It's not that complicated. You enter the freedb link under EAC -> Metadata Options -> freedb.
Then, when you have a CD (which is present in the VGMdb database) in the drive and EAC recognizes the audio tracks, you go to Database -> Get CD Information From -> Remote Metadata Provider, with your appropriate VGMdb freedb database specified in the options.
