Well, the CD soundtrack's out now, and all these suspicions appear to be borne out. Half the tracks are credited to Kobayashi and Jeremy Garren together, and represent conventionally orchestrated, stale approximations of Kobayashi's original tracks, while the other half are the work of Garren alone. Who knows whether his solo tracks represent further additions to the score, or wholesale replacements of Kobayashi's work that we'll never get to hear in any form. I'm incredibly put off by Microsoft's obvious attempt to pander to what they must perceive as "Western taste" by neutering the original score's unique electronic sound, and overwriting the attractive particularities of Kobayashi's personal style with a sterilized, heavy-handed Hollywood factory mold sound.

That said, I might still buy it just to show some support for the game and for Kobayashi. But I'll be holding my nose.
