Oh, I think you misunderstood when I wrote "Tah-kay-NOH-OOO-chee" -I meant that to sound the way you're saying it's pronounced.

From the examples CHz provied, it seems like it's both. I thought that an "ou" was another way to spell "ō" and that that was just an OH sound. For example, Tenchi Sōzō is also spelled Tenchi Souzou, and pronounced SOH-ZOH. So that got me thinking that Takenouchi was pronouced Take-NO-chi. Maybe it's a combination of the two like dissident93 wrote.
