A shame about the other points you made but I guess there is so much legal obligations going on behind the scenes oblivious to most people. Maybe that's the reason Merregnon Studios (The company of Thomas Böcker) couldn't get the original artists for their classical game arrangement albums involved despite having Nobuo Uematsu on board.
I guess they could do that for Turrican because there was nothing legal or artistically interfering in the way.
Not to mention the worries about "ghostwriting" and taking credit for personal gain. Sometimes you kind of know it when a composer has a distinctive style and voice yet the credits say it was done by someone else, "I could have sworn that was X but its Y". If that was because of a simple booklet error or indeed done by someone else uncredited, when such things come to light its always a bit disheartening.
