Wow, I got scammed on ebay as well, and only found out years later thanks to this site.
I avoid buying soundtracks on ebay since then. I make only exceptions when the soundtrack is dirt cheap (and not rare at all).

Worst part: sometimes innocent sellers are selling bootlegs and were scammed themselves and simply do not know. I contacted a few selling Silent Hill soundtracks (their own collection) and removed the auction after I told them and were very upset that they got scammed originally as well.

For Japanese soundtracks I go suruga-ya whenever possible. It seems they know what they are doing and don't sell bootlegs or other crap and the condition is almost always like new, sometimes I even get sealed copies despite them being sold as used.

I got one very rare soundtrack (for a movie) though from yahoo auctions. Only given out for people who visited the cinema for that movie 20 years ago and it took me years to find a copy that was okay-ish price-wise.
