IMPORTANT UPDATE: this list is outdated and irrelevant since we do have actual official credits now; please refer to the official soundtrack to see the corrected, detailed credits.

This is quite an interesting topic, ever since Nintendo is quite scarce giving detailed composer information on the Zelda games overall (we can only rely on selection soundtracks or piano books), or even any first-party franchise at all.

Nevertheless, I would like to start with one of the less mainstream games: Link's Awakening. Regarding the composers:

-Kazumi Totaka has said to have done "all the sound programming and sound effects", but I'm pretty sure he must have composed a few BGM tracks (in the form of fanfares, or his eponymous song); everything that sounds like his other Game Boy classics like Super Mario Land 2 or Kaeru no Tame is definetly his work.

-Kozue Ishikawa, main composer of the Game Boy Wario Land titles, arranged Kondo's classic theme for the overworld, and she is most likely to have done most of the outdoor BGM; songs that use the same "quirkiness" of Wario Land are sure to be her work.

-As for Minako Hamano, she doesn't really have any 8-bit standalone work to compare with (I don't count Pokémon Puzzle Challenge because it was co-composed with Taishi Senda); however, because of she being a prominent composer on the Metroid franchise, I do think she may have some kind of "dark" of "mystic" mood tone in her melodies; that's why I think she may have handled most of the dungeon music (or any other theme I can't say to be Totaka or Ishikawa).

Yuichi Ozaki only handled the Color Dungeon theme in the DX version, so no problem with him.

Also, accoding to "Game Concert 3" (http://vgmdb.net/album/879), the track The Legend of Zelda (Game Boy Version) "Looking Towards the Islands of Dreams" was composed by Kondo, Hamano and Ishikawa; eliminating Kondo since he didn't work on Link's Awakening (and he is most likely credited because of composing the classic Zelda overworld) we have left Hamano and Ishikawa for the game's ending. Since that piece has two parts, one being an original piece alike Ishikawa's overworld and the other being Ballad of the Wind Fish, I guess that we could align Ishikawa to that first part and have Hamano as composer for Ballad of the Wind Fish (although I admit I may not be sure this gives a complete confirmation XD).

Anyway, enough roundabouts and let's get to the deal:

(EDIT 2017/08/10: I've given now the OST a second listen and I think I have more confidence in some of the themes, so I'm changing everything to reflect what do I think currently. I'm thinking probably Hamano had the majority of songs after all...)

KT - Kazumi Totaka; MH - Minako Hamano; KI - Kozue Ishikawa; YO - Yuichi Ozaki
