I didn't support nested franchises because I couldn't find a clean way to query all the albums from an arbitrarily deep tree of franchises.
The way we handle this kind of grouping is through parallel franchises. For example, you can have a Final Fantasy franchise and a Compilation of Final Fantasy VII franchise. The FF7 one contains Crisis Core and the Advent Children anime. All of those products are also part of the main Final Fantasy franchise without making the FFVII franchise a child of FF.
