I would suspect that most consumers no longer own an optical drive.
If that's right, does this mean we should expect physical VGM releases to go by the wayside? If not, who is the target market (is it just collectors)? |

As far as CDs, yes. We're seeing a lot less of them. Vinyls, no.
Personally, as long as digital releases are of near CD quality or better, I don't mind, but when the best we got is 320kbps MP3 I just won't buy it. It's like companies feel like they don't need to provide high quality because not enough people care. As far as vinyls, I like the larger artwork print. Ideally I'd like a soundtrack with a vinyl pressing and lossless digital audio files to go along with it, like fangamer often does. Ooh! Blast Corps got a release. |
