Saw this and thought Toby actually put out a digital release for the tracks shared in the newsletter. Does this really belong on vgmdb? It's just some MP3 files on a website being played by audio players, not even neatly packaged as something resembling an album.

To add, wouldn't this mean we'd have to add the other times Toby shared scrapped tracks in a newsletter?

There doesn't appear to be a definitive standard, but there have been instances where MP3s published on a webpage were accepted as album submissions by SS.

In this case, the tracks are on a dedicated webpage, the tracks are presented in a specific order with proper titles, and all of them can be downloaded directly without the need for external tools.

I believe there's at least some merit in documenting it.

I think something can still count as a release even if it's not packaged like a traditional album. For example, there are a few other entries of releases of this nature, like this. (Richard Jacques had an MP3 downloads section on his old site, maybe I should add that at some point). As for this release, there's no download button for the tracks but you can still right click and save, so I guess it's eligible.

I don't know, it feels a bit disingenuous to present it as a proper release on here. I'm all for documenting it, I even downloaded the MP3s, tagged them, and added them to my library, but presenting it as a release makes it feel like you could stream it on Spotify, buy it on Bandcamp, or something else. When I saw this release on the home page I was very excited lol, because I thought I could buy it and get the high quality files.

Perhaps it, and other similar things like the Richard Jacques stuff could be presented as a different type of release, different from albums or products

On Chromium-based browsers, which are used by about 70% of people, you actually can find a download button by clicking the three dots menu.

I'm still open to deactivating this entry and similar ones if people feel they don't fit here.

Oh yeah I forgot that, been using Firefox as my main browser for a while now.

Personally I don't think you should deactivate this entry. It might not be a conventional album release, but the tracks are still downloadable so as you said, it's worth documenting here. (granted there's a lot of interesting streaming exclusives that are good to keep track of, but VGMdb doesn't cover streaming, so I guess threads could just be used instead) As Morris said, maybe there could be some other type of release classification for cases like this, hmm.
