Will this be sold from their online store, or will it only be some event thing? I just find some reservation form, but I'm not really sure how that works.

The preorder form includes shipping cost information, so looks like you can order it that way or pick it up at BEEP itself (it's a combination retro game museum & store). Unsure if they'll be taking online sales after the preorder period or not.

Apparently tk_nz, who runs this fairly venerable Falcom music fansite, was the director of this CD and he'll be at BEEP for a special fan meetup on the 22nd.

Hmm, I might need to try to get it then. Do you happen to know if the music is from the same game as this one? The track titles don't really check out, but the release date for the game seems to be correct. I really like All Over Xanadu, and having the music in its original form would be awesome.

Only track 1 on All Over Xanadu is an arrangement from the original Xanadu; the rest of the songs on that album are arrangements from the expansion pack sequel, Xanadu Scenario II. This album only covers the original Xanadu.

This seems like something rather unique. And I very much want it. :P

This will be extremely useful simply for listening to the MSX2 score written by Mieko Ishikawa when she first joined Falcom. It's great to hear BEEP Shop's helping old J-PC fans in more ways than you'd expect—though I hope tk_nz got clearance from Falcom to sell copyrighted material beforehand.

Falcom is promoting it on their site, so the signs point to this being aboveboard.

I'm a huge Falcom fan, but this is...hard to listen to. It's very repetitive, with the same themes rearranged slightly and appearing several tracks in a row. The sound chip quickly becomes irritating. I couldn't get past track 10 before popping it out of the CD player.

I don't know if I've ever done that before. The closest I've come is when I listened to Tetremix for the first (and last) time, but even then, I forced myself to go through the whole album. I couldn't muster that enthusiasm here.

As usual, the album doesn't have a composer breakdown. But shouldn't Yuzo Koshiro be listed next to Toshiya Takahashi and Mieko Ishikawa?

Koshiro was credited in the MSX mega ROM version alongside Ishikawa, and tk_nz surmises that he did at least some of the music (this version was released after Xanadu Scenario II, btw). The manuals for the individual ports might shed some more light on who was involved with which port (the games don't always have staff credits). Seeing how tk_nz used legitimate releases to record but his site still lacks entries for many ports, maybe he owns them all but hasn't gotten around to put the details online yet.

As for Koshiro's involvement, while I don't have KHY-1028 to compare (its tracks have different names and don't necessarily correspond to the ones on B2PS-1001), the album seemingly confirms Ishikawa as composer on almost all tracks, with the possible exception of B2PS-1001's tracks 60, 61 and 67, the latter of which sounds more like a sound effect anyway.

That Koshiro might have only done some jingles on the MSX mega ROM version of Xanadu would check out with him being more heavily involved than Ishikawa with the then-in-development Ys I and its various ports.
