I've got a few comments that should help to smooth out the submission process: 1. When you credit artists in your drafts, you should use the precise rolenames that are in the booklet. For this album, I am not sure where "Music Composed", etc., came from, but on the back image, we do see a 作曲, 編曲, プロデュース for Michiru Oshima, so that is the roles that we should link in the draft. In the notes, you can just keep it as Composer, Arranger, Produce, which are the english names for those japanese roles. 2. There is an extra step that you need to do to get the artist names to link to the artist pages. Namely, after you add the roles and names to your draft, if you hit the "Update Linked Artists" button, they will turn into links. You can use the checkboxes by each artist:role to select which names to link. (This is mainly important for artists who have the same name.) 3. The CDJapan notes for this album may have said that "Godzilla vs. Mothra" was represented on this album, but the tracklist says "Godzilla X Mecha-Godzilla" (in japanese). This highlights that some sources of info aren't always reliable. I wouldn't trust CDjapan for anything aside from catalog number and release date. Japanese shops like Yodobashi are generally more trustworthy for info. 3a. For that reason, I removed Al Schmitt for Mix. |

@Secret Squirrel
What are some other Japanese sites that are reliable (other than official sites like Sony Music Group) when compiling album info? Asking to prevent further hiccups. |

The ultimate source is the album itself, if you can find scans of it. Sometimes I can pictures on Mercari to confirm basic information. Next would be Japanese sites in the industry, which includes the music labels, studios, or artist representatives. Many of the Japanese retailers are pretty good too, including Yodobashi and Tower Records. In particular, Yodobashi is great for the standard credits found on vocals. Suruga-ya is very good with finding catalog numbers. Japan Wikipedia is also pretty accurate for readings and other general information.
Then you get to english language sites, and most of them are second-hand sources and prone to potential error. Information on Discogs is often pretty good, and in theory, sourced from scans (which they don't always show), but I have found errors there too -- mostly they take some liberties when transcribing credits from the scans. You should never base anything purely on information from a fansite without corroboration with a better source. |
