I feel kind of silly here. I ordered Quake II for the Switch from Limited Run but was wondering why the collector's edition didn't have a soundtrack CD. This would explain why; I forgot Laced was releasing the music on LP.

That said, kind of glad the CE didn't have the OST; I didn't really want to fork out for it honestly given what it contained. Also, I'm pretty sure you can just get the music off a game disc which wouldn't be expensive at this point.

Was just reminded of this tweet by Sonic Mayhem: https://twitter.com/sonicmayhem/stat...09243723821282

In order to get the vinyl out I had to give up all rights to quake 2 music. So it’s a question for @bethesda really.
It's kinda fucked up that Bethesda/Microsoft would insist on something like that.

Sonic Mayhem also mentioned preivously he had tried to make a vinyl release happen at least since 2017 (maybe earlier, but that's the first mention I've seen), so he really wanted this release to happen.

Also a vinyl release for Quake II from Spacelab9 had previously been announced all the way back in 2019, but ultimately didn't happen: https://twitter.com/sonicmayhem/stat...14844398186496

I don't know about that. Wasn't Bobby Prince suing Bethesda because they used unused tracks of his from Duke Nukem 3D in the most recent re-release of that game? I don't know what happened with that lawsuit but in Microsoft's defense I think this happened before the merger. I'm guessing Prince believes he has copyright over many of his earliest MIDI scores?

Edit:

Sorry, I don't think it's Bethesda, I think I thinking of Gearbox.
