If the dates are correct, this can't be a reprint since it came out two months before the synSONIQ - should be the opposite.

note that the date is the date for the monthly magazine, it's not the real date of issue since the mag was out some days before its month (for october, it was out end of september)
how i know? coz I bought these magazines and it was always available some days before the month printed on the mag

I just found out Mitchell posted the original composition on YouTube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mt4A0IhX5uU It sounds very different from the final N64 rendering, more complex, more sounds, different instrumentation. i remember him saying somewhere in an interview that the n64 was a pain, that he spent way too much time programming vs composing
