Why change to "Cozy Kubo" if he is credited with his Kanji name "Koji Kubo"?

Because the preferred English rendering of his name has consistently been "Cozy Kubo" for at least 24 years (it's on his 1992 album COZY). If it's actually printed as "Koji" in English here somewhere then that's fine, but otherwise we should stick with "Cozy."

I had this notion, that if it a name was in kanji, it should be used the one written in kanji.
To better explain:
Cozy Kubo officially romanized. Ok, fine, not doubt in that. But if his name is credited in kanji instead of the romanized one, the romanji from that kanji would count as "Koji Kubo".
I used this as an example, I am referring to others.
For example, in saber marionette J we have Keizi Toda (not sure of the name now), which is credited like that but in composition (i think that is the field, no sure) he is credited by his kanji name (Keiji....Toda?), so he is credited with 2 names.
I am just sharing how I thought it counted.
