I don't know if it makes much sense to add "available at"-links when the item is out of print.

See the current link (CD Japan), it clearly states the "out of print" status. Might be better to put this into the generic link area.

Some of the links were added by an automated script, so cases like this would inadvertently happen. Thanks for pointing it out.

The script did parse the page html to filter the out-of-print albums. Still, albums are continually going out of print, and we'll probably have to manually remove them as they do.

Like I said, I wouldn't completly remove the link since it might still contain valuable information. Or at least it contains "historic" information (was once available at).

Maybe you can just mark these kind of links with something like a red cross, or something similar.

They could be listed as "Reference" website links if needed. SS and I are discussing it here:

I am wondering if I have a bootleg version of this soundtrack.

The number is KICA-1337~1340, and at the top of the case's "spine" is a red label that says Namco Sound Gear with a Pac-Man next to it.

I don't think so..
Generally bootlegs have different catalog numbers.

The Pac Man with "Namco Sound Gear" is official, it have been used previously, see that cover for example.

Thank you for the speedy response, Myrkul.

By the way, is your user name based on a Forgotten Realms god?

I am not sure how to edit a child album without also editing the parent.
Disc 1 track 27 is Have a sweet dream
Disc 2 track 10 is An appearance
Disc 2 track 13 is In the ashes

Oh, so they fixed the printing errors in that edition? To create a tracklist that differs from the parent, you just have to submit a new tracklist on the child album. This delinks the tracklist.

The scans show fixed titles, but it seems they got reset when kyubihanyou reset the non reprint version to what it was before.

I've added a new tracklist for the reprint, with the changes reflected.

I feel this may be asking a bit much, but not really being a fan of the Tales series nor being very familiar with the music.. in the notes it lists the composers and 'music' they composed, but can anyone make a list? It may not be accurate, so maybe that is why nobody has bothered to say any more than what is shown in the notes.

Quote:
Shinji Tamura was mainly responsible for the Sylvarant part, such as "Town of
a wind and ruins", and also tracks from the last part of the game.

Motoi Sakuraba was responsible for the Tethe Alla part, movie scenes, character themes, battle themes and the staff roll.

Takeshi Arai did sound program, sound effects, arranged tracks from previous games, theme music and such.
I seriously could only guess, but mainly I wonder if anyone KNOWS and is super pro and could pick apart it, but seeing as how it hasn't been done, I don't see why it would now.

That info comes from the liner notes, and while super vague that's the most official confirmation you'll ever get (btw--the notes in this reprint are different from the parent album, but the info is essentially the same).

I think Sakuraba says the PS2 version uses streaming rather than sequences with sound is from a sampler before porting the music to the GC (rather than the final result).

It's possible to make a fairly accurate 'guess list' with enough exposure to Sakuraba music and hints in other albums (ex.- Sakuraba only arranges his own music), but it's still just guesses.

Movies mean these anime/cg movies used in important scenes, not in-game sequences (Sakuraba handles these in Tales games).

Note they say they did "themes", not "THE themes". So it's fairly possible they both did a bunch of them. For example the Genius/Off-beat/Shihna/Fun with idol has a Tamuraish beat I think. I wonder about a couple of battle themes too.
It's worth looking into ToS Dawn of the New World OST since they reuse tracks and the synth differences are bigger thus easier to pick the styles appart.

Tracks arranged by Sakuraba in other Tales ASTs are his, so Full Force, Like A Glint Of Light, Eternal oath, Last Battle ~Decision~ (+ variations?), The End of a Thought + Kratos are at least confirmed.

Fighting of the Spirit is originally Tamura's (random trivia: confirmed in GB ToP Narikiri Dungeon). There are other arrangements of old music IIRC, Shinobi Life, Forest of the Treant and probably others,

EDIT: from Tamura, he did 30 tracks out of 111 in the OST.

- 114: ?check ToVS 1.17-Aoyama
- 315: if this is accurate, Suzu ~= Mysterious Japon = SHINOBI Life

ToP arrangements, probably Takeshi Arai did only some (ie 424 sounds very much Sakuraba):
110 116 315 322 323 326 404 424

To my poor, untrained ears it seems Tamura uses a more 'flat' sound (brass/piano, fake-ish e.guitar, poppy beats) quite apparent in the sequel.

Also:
Missing tracks:
- Starry Heavens [GC JP op]
- Starry Heavens(hiroic) / Starry Heavens (Heroic) [GC JP/PS3 event]
- Tales of Symphonia Suite [GC US op]
- Tales of Symphonia Suite - Heroic [GC US event]
- そして僕にできるコト [PS2 op]
- そして僕にできるコト(hiroic) / What I can Do [PS2/PS3 event]
- Starry Heavens(ver.2013) [PS3 op 1]
- そして僕にできること(ver.2013) [PS3 op 2]
- 21 Tactics / 21 Tactics [PS2/PS3 blackjack]
- Fortune Reel / Fortune Reel [PS2/PS3 slots 1]
- Paradise Mode / On the Hill at Night [PS2/PS3 slots 2] (--US wrong name)
- Forgotten city / Forgotten City [GC/PS2 aerial city]
- NEKONIN! / Katz! [GC/PS2 katz village]
(also IIRC the PS2/PS3 version had 2 new movies, no new music I think)

All tracks with a ~subtitle~ use the same composition, so can't have different composers (affects Search a seal). All anime/CG movies in Tales games have different sound direction than in-game music and are most certainly by Sakuraba (Revival is definitively his, so is A prologue). Fatalize is closer to Tamura's style and (inofficially) credited as such at several Japanese places, he may have done some more battle themes. Instrumentation helps as well, Fun with Idol! is typical upbeat Tamura, Thank for all is Sakuraba's love for the Rhodes sound. Serenade of elves is definitely Sakuraba's as it's very close to Ivan's theme in Golden Sun. A snow light is an arrangement of ToP's Freeze.

Listening to the arrangements for the follow up game Dawn of a new Word (presuming the composers only arranged their own compositions) may help further (there many character themes sound like being by Tamura).

So with the new edit to the tracktimes, does this album now show up on a FreeDB lookup? Also, I assume the new times should also apply to the parent printing.

I made the edit to times because it wasn't showing up, but.. sometimes I wonder if it had shown up before (because someone did add times). Either way, maybe someone with the soundtrack could confirm that it does work for them?

edit: as a note, I'm using EAC (when using the freedb)

Should the tilde marks be replaced with wave dashes?
