The performer for the game is called the Mario Kart Band! It says so in the staff credits!

180 points????
Oh god!! Please let be in europe club nintendo. Please please. with the same amount of points-

my kirby triple deluxe was like 2000 stars just to get it. And I was lucky enough to get it. I started to buy games that I even did not want, which were at 2 or 5 euros, and some did not had the coupon with the registration key or... out of date.

I only have 300 stars in my account, and if it gets also 180 points in europe.... oh please... please, make it be that way,

I am rooting for you, RomanticScent!

But y'know, if it does come to Europe, and it costs 350 stars or something, wouldn't that be just like Mario Kart to have a prize so close but unfairly out of reach?

Holy S***!!!

Can't wait. Was not impressed by Nintendo's latest soundtracks like I am with this one. Best Mario Kart soundtrack without a doubt, and maybe the best Nintendo recent games' "new" soundtracks, not counting ALBW, which is made almost entirely of ALttP's classics. Don't know how much I'll have to spend on it, but I'll make it with a smile inmy face =)

The sound is so different to what I'm used to from Mario Kart, but some of the music I have heard is really cool anyway.

Shiho Fujii: Mario Circuit, Electrodome.
Atsuko Asahi: Title Theme, Sunshine Airport, Dolphin Shoals, Cloudtop Cruise, (Hyrule Circuit?*)
Ryo Nagamatsu: Mount Wario, Moo Moo Meadows, Staff Roll
Yasuaki Iwata: Mario Kart Stadium, Mario Kart TV

*Was spotted overseeing the recording for that track.
Thanks for that info.

There is one thing I wonder though...

Will they do the same thing they did with the Lost World OST? You know, where they release an OST, then have DLC that has new stuff? Or will they do it in a way, that they announce the tracks for the DLC in a ND, and then have it so that all tracks for the second DLC pack will already be known THEN reveal the tracklist?

OK, so this translation (albeit, bad) confirms DLC music, doesn't it?

"2 CD set of Wii U "Mario Kart 8" I was available at a special point.
You can listen, including the songs of additional content."

Funny. Another case of discovering this exists by seeing it first on eBay. I really need to check this site more often. And... kick my auction site addiction while I'm at it. Cheers for releasing this Nintendo! I wish the money I'll end up paying some re-seller could go to you!

Here's a search for Mario Kart on YJA.

Mostly 7 pops up, but there are a few 8s listed already. I bought one for 2800.

And they still didn't credit the arranger?

Nope. Doubt the album will either. :{

There's a site with a few DLC track attributions, but I have no idea where this info came from (aside from Asahi being present in the Hyrule Circuit video), so they should probably be treated as guesses:

Shiho Fujii: Excitebike
Atsuko Asahi: Dragon Driftway, Hyrule Circuit
Ryo Nagamatsu: Mute City

I don't have an opinion on the arrangements, but I am pretty sure Dragon Driftway is in fact Asahi's.

Since these are all played live, makes you wonder if the performers themselves contributed to the arrangements, with the composers just supervising.

EDIT: Actually, Asashi said this in that interview last year:
Quote:
"Basically, my aim was for the [title] track to have the feel of a live session, so as much as possible I gave the musicians space to improvise, emphasizing creativity more than I did when working on music for courses in the game."
So it wouldn't surprise me for this to be the case here.

I have a feeling that live performers contributing to the writing of their parts, especially soloists, is pretty darn common.

Allow me to explain. There are 32 tracks in the game (48 if you count the DLC) and with the jingles, that will bring the total number to around 60 in the soundtrack.

That is my estimate!
