I submitted a new tracklist correcting some problems. Seems the older one was messed up when parsing the test, as track 40 wasn't correct and it was missing one last track.

These 2CDs are very frustrating to me. I would have preferred a 1 disc album of just the racing tracks, game over, and credit music ala F-Zero X soundtrack. Now I have to actively skip tracks.
Also, for the people who liked the sinister sounding racing tracks (or the final lap intensified tracks), check out Ghreg on Earth. Last edited by Vert1; Oct 8, 2011 at 06:48 AM. |

The guitar performance on the Big Blue arrangement track is not credited though is most likely Katsumi Yoshihara. He usually collaborates with the SuperSweep crew, especially Shinji Hosoe and Ayako Saso.

It's Chiaki, vocalist from Dakota Star. I've created a profile for her.

To be honest, I'm not excited about this one.
The character song of Captain Falcon has bad lyrics. They could've done so much more with that. Douglas J. Falcon is not a hero, he's a bounty hunter. Surely, he probably catches a lot of criminals, but that's because he's good at wat he's doing. So good, the authorities hire him to do the job. The remix of Big Blue is somewhat ok. I only have this ost because I try to collect everthing of F-ZERO. I think they should've never worked with SEGA on this one. Anyway, not many people will agree with me :P

i thought the circuit music was mostly formulaic and bland. well produced for sure, and i can't really fault it objectively, but just isn't my thing... techno, shrug. it does the job. i found the character themes more inventive and also they had more variety. some of them are hilarious, some are cheesy, not all of them are good but some are awesome. and it's funny because those songs were sort of superfluous, when you think about it... like they were written just for the sake of it, just because there was the means to do it, with minimal real purpose
i like both the classic/'secret' arrangements of big blue and mute city more than the default ones in the game, and of course love saso's arrangement as well. my favourite songs though are the ones used on the menus... i just like that fusiony sound i guess ;3 Step 70's <3 i think overall SEGA did a good job, they made one of the most playable and best looking gamecube games. i do agree about the music though, i'd take classic F-Zero music any day. i would love to see a new Nintendo EAD developed F-Zero with someone good doing the music...

If I were forced to choose only one, I'd also take the original F-Zero over this, but I think Shoji is a super cool dude and I like GX/AX a lot too. Not my favorite thing by him (that would probably be his Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2 work), but I can crank something like Aeropolis any time and groove the hell out.
I wish Ayako Saso would lock herself in a room and just write nothing but fusion for a month. She stole Driving Emotion Type-S, and she rocked the hell out of Big Blue here. The lady has top skills. |

Shame about the number of cutscene background themes that weren't featured in the album release, but the character themes are more than worthwhile and, honestly, I think the stage themes are the best they've ever been, with a great amount of variety and able arrangement from Hidenori. Melodies help a lot, but so does clever instrumentation and other musical devices, and I can appreciate his direction for what it is, and not what it isn't.
And the menu themes are glorious. |

Was every track from F-Zero AX also on F-Zero GX or were some tracks from this soundtrack exclusive to one game or the other?

I guess all music exists in both games. The AX arcade never released in Brasil, so i can't test myself.

Disc 2 Tracks 03+05 I'm fairly certain were AX only. Not sure about any others.

Oh it's true, in the AX arcade you can use the GC memory card to import save data between both games.

This is the most enjoyable F-zero console game and I wish Nintendo would stop fussing about its lack of reception and make new one. Sega really did bring all the goods, so now Nintendo should go solo and enhance an already top notch game.
Music wise, I think this is Hidenori's best. It was my introduction to his name and no other soundtrack is nearly as complete as this one. Although I think, he is one of few composers that has improved ''technonical" skill in sound making. In one of his interviews, he mentions that he did not enjoy making this album. I wonder if this is the work pressure of Nintendo. If this was not an all out jam session, then it could have something far greater had he been totally himself and gone all out. As for Kasho, it was also my first with him, but I feel it's his first real work and it shows. I slowly caught on to his styles with all the quirky character themes. The songs were mainly the best. Like in Turismo 3, just plain music can burn holes in the brain. Much like Hidenori tries to do, only more effectively. Kasho altogether, amazing work for being not having a complete education like many Japanese in general. It's a hit or miss with his songs, either they are superb to or just flat good. |
