It looks like the composer info came from here, but I'm a little confused what the symbols mean.

I can't figure that out either, sorry.

I have another question: is there really a version of this game for the PlayStation Portable? I've looked around and can't find any information on this at all. And plus wouldn't the fact that this says "X68000" mean it's from the Sharp X68000 version?

I think the title is a little confusing..

Ys III does not exist for PSP, it's only the Remake, called "The Oath in Felghana".
The disc features music for the Sharp X68000 (of Ys III), like Medina mentioned.

I think we should change the platform represented.

Oops, I didn't know I'd added this entry.

Apparently, the game has three modes (PC-8801, X68000 and Win), and the BGM of the X68000 mode is a newly recording of the X68000 version which may or may not make a difference, and the PC-8801 mode has some exclusive tracks to the PSP port that this album covers, so I think the product field should list both Ys III: Wanderers from Ys (Sharp X68000) and Ys: The Oath of Felghana (PSP), but perhaps we need to omit Ys III: Wanderers from Ys (Sharp X68000) depending on how much difference "new recording" brings.

Maybe Product field is another area we can benefit from having a circle graph.

The PC88 version tracks aren't exclusive to the PSP port. They already existed on the X68K and others.

I wonder if they did them specifically for this album or if they were originally intended in the PC88 version and didn't make it in the game for some reason. Anyway, pretty nice.

As for knowing if the PSP should be mentionned at all, I don't know ... It's strictly the X68K soundtrack with PC88 bonuses, but was still released in relation with the X68K emulated PSP version so ... /hmm

I stand corrected (or rather, I was misled by the description above ). So, are they PC-88 style-arranged versions of the tracks originally composed for the X68000 version and whatnot? If they weren't on the original PC-88 game anyway, I think the platform is PSP. Maybe we will have to discuss about this when the product table is finally due.

What's sure is they weren't in the original PC88 game.

Since they were composed by Masaaki Kawai who apparently joined Falcom around 1989 when Ys 3 was released, there is a chance he actually composed them for the PC88 game and they were only included in later ports ...

Since they're the only Ys 3 tracks composed by him, there's also a very high chance they were composed only for the X68K port, and adapted in PC88 form for the PSP emulated version to fill the holes ...

Both work imo. Not that important anyway, but it's fun to nitpick on that stuff, isn't it ? ^^;
