While we're on the Goemon tip - I wonder if this album's got a booklet/more pages than what's currently uploaded here. Specifically, I'd love to know if there's any individual track credits listed on the release at all - it'd answer some questions I have about Uehara and Ueko as composers. They've worked together on many soundtracks, and every soundtrack either of them has worked on has been great (imo). It's been bugging me for ages who composed what on this one though, and I have no point of reference because of their limited solo material. I'll probably never find out; I sadly don't expect there are specific credits. Same as I'll probably never truly find out who composed the music on Pop'n Twinbee. But... worth asking I suppose.

Otherwise, I have a great fondness for this game's music, much moreso than the other SNES Goemon games. It's lots of fun.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could "decipher" the track listing for me, I can upload a scan to whoever would like to attempt this.

I have made attempts to translate some of the Goemon series soundtracks in the past, and found that they were always beyond my ability even while using online kanji dictionaries. There's just too much in there that's archaic or just plain out-of-the ordinary.

I wonder if the SPC set at snesmusic observes the official tracknames and track order, or if they're entirely fabricated.

Also would love to see what VAP is talkin' about in the booklet. Thanks for uploading the scans btw :3

Yeah, it doesn't replace the times when you add a new tracklist. What you can do is edit the tracklist now that it's there, and paste that block of text into the text input block on the right, and then tell it to just copy over the tracktimes by selecting track times in the drop-down box.

Ok I added a translation but no doubt I got some wrong. Somebody more familiar with the game should recheck it.

Btw the current "romaji" tracklist is a semi-translations, I'll drop it now if nobody minds.

A quick question about those Gradius arcade tracks: They're originally composed by Miki Higashino, right?

someone i know kindly translated part of the conversation from the booklet (he only did the interesting part, according to him~)

http://koti.mbnet.fi/ltt/pics/misc/g...ranslation.png

it's not all that revealing but it may suggest that Uehara primarily did sound effects and Ueko primarily did music. it figures, given Uehara has very often been involved with sound implementation and SFX. i don't believe he is specifically credited for music anywhere in the booklet, either. very interesting anyway, i think.

Why are the translations of 53 "welcome" and 68 "weelcome?" Is the original 68 some really enthusiastic greeting that has no counterpart in English?
Also, might anybody have a copy of the booklet translation from Blitz Lunar's post there? I have always been fond of and curious about this game's music.

Well thank you! That is helpful, even if it is brief. I didn't reckon VAP was addressed as such in person (although why else would he be credited as that?) It looks like the sound people were interviewing each other. I'm surprised that works!

A round table discussion like that between the game's sound staff and sometimes an interviewer was pretty common in these old Konami soundtracks.

Also wondering what was up with that.

Boyblunder's translation had:
53 Welcome (6st.BGM)
68 Mensoore (8th. BGM)

According to Jisho.org "おいでやす" (track 53) is a Kyoto dialect expression used by shopkeepers to mean "welcome" and "メンソーレ" (track 68) should be written properly as "めんそーれ" and is a Ryukyu dialect expression meaning "welcome" (by anyone, apparently).

I don't know if this is correct or not, but that's what I found

You mean this, right?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_J1EI_aNl0

It also plays briefly in the opening cutscene, but was, like many other tracks, omitted from the soundtrack release.

This soundtrack is incredible

And yeah, they omitted the first version of Edo Town and Omitsu's theme from that N64 soundtrack. The dogs >_<
